Long Bio (250 words)

Bill Greening is best known for his creative Barbie doll designs that have delighted both children and adults for the last 26 years.  Just like Barbie, he was born in Southern California, and he grew up in the city of Orange. His childhood love for the doll turned into a passionate hobby of collecting Barbie in his teens. He currently has over one thousand dolls in his collection.

The love of Barbie, pop culture, and fashion lead him to study fashion design at California State University Long Beach in 1995. Bill graduated in 1998 with a degree in Fashion Design and Textiles.

In 1999 Bill landed a design job at Mattel toys, where he created some of the most iconic Barbie dolls of all time. If you were playing Barbie in the 2000s, chances are Bill designed it. On the Barbie collector line, Bill has worked with major brands, fashion designers, celebrities, and movie studios. His knowledge of Barbie is unmatched. As the Barbie Brand Historian, he served as a creative consultant on the Barbie movie and has been featured in The Toys that Made Us on Netflix, Black Barbie by Shondaland studios, and the Bob Mackie biographical film Naked Illusion.

Bill Greening is a celebrated Barbie doll designer, collector, and historian born and raised in Southern California. His lifelong passion for Barbie led him to study fashion design, earning a degree from Cal State Long Beach, and to join Mattel in 1999. Over a 26-year career, Bill designed countless Barbie dolls known for his fashionable, retro, and glamorous style. His early Y2K era designs, have been celebrated as definitive Barbie dolls of that era. His designs on the Barbie Signature line are highly coveted collector favorites. He has collaborated with major fashion designers, celebrities, and studios, served as Barbie Brand Historian, and contributed as a creative consultant on the Barbie movie. Bill has been featured in The Toys That Made Us, The Black Barbie Documentary, and Naked Illusion. He lives in Long Beach, where he continues his creative work in design, art, writing, and doll collecting.
